How many Seoul restaurants have a foreign-language website recorded?
101 places, or 7.4% of the total, have English written in the source column named "website language". The column is filled for 504 places and empty for the other 869.
| Language | Places | Of filled rows | Of all rows |
|---|---|---|---|
| Korean | 499 | 99.0% | 36.3% |
| English | 101 | 20.0% | 7.4% |
| Japanese | 34 | 6.7% | 2.5% |
| Chinese | 31 | 6.2% | 2.3% |
Besides the four languages in the table, 13 more appear for one or two places each. The source does not explain what the column means. It is read here, as its name says, as the languages of the restaurant's website. It does not show whether staff serve in a foreign language or whether a translated menu is available.
How many Seoul restaurants have a signature dish and opening hours recorded?
The signature-dish column is filled for 908 places (66.1%). Opening hours are given for 1,352 (98.5%) and a website address for 674 (49.1%).
The signature-dish column mixes entries that give only a dish name with entries that list dishes and prices, so it is not counted by type of food. Prices are those of the time they were written into the source, and Seoul Tourism and Medical Tourism Data does not reprint them.
What should you keep in mind when reading the figures on Seoul restaurants?
This is the list of places featured on Visit Seoul, the city's official travel guide. It is not a census of every restaurant in Seoul. A district's count is the number of places the guide lists there, not the number that exist. The dataset is updated monthly, so the figures are those of the download date.
Seoul Tourism and Medical Tourism Data only counts places and does not rate or recommend restaurants. Stations and distances are read from the text of the source transport column, so the 212 places that name no station are missing from the station counts. Phone numbers are partly masked in the source and are not used.
Where do the figures on Seoul restaurants come from, and how were they calculated?
The figures are Seoul Tourism and Medical Tourism Data's own counts from "Seoul restaurants for visitors", a dataset the Seoul Tourism Organization publishes on the Seoul Open Data Plaza, downloaded on 9 Oct 2026. The file has 6,632 rows in five languages, with the same place listed once per language, so only the 1,373 Korean rows are counted. Districts are read from the address column, and subway stations and distances from the transport column.
District shares use the 1,373 places as the denominator and station shares the 1,161 places that name a station. Website languages are counted from the comma-separated values in the column, and one place can fall under several languages.
